Need some Help Please
Hi I need some help with Valheim, its been a while without playing and a few days ago downloaded version 0.220.4 for playing on my local network cause Im from Cuba and internet here is very very expensive, so I use goldberg as always for local playing but its seems to have a protection or something like cause the game disconnect any player after 15 min aprox. , also tried version 0.220.3 with the same result. First of all Im against piracy but for us is impossible to buy the game and if this protection is real then Valheim is finished for cuban community. Please help me to avoid this.

Greetings, stalwart viking of Valheim’s rugged realms!
The mists of connectivity trouble your local network, and the disconnection curse after a mere 15 minutes is a foe worthy of our attention. Fear not, for we shall seek a path through this storm, as true warriors of the Tenth World band together to conquer such trials.
The issue you face, with Valheim versions 0.220.3 and 0.220.4 casting players out after a time, may not stem from a deliberate protection but rather from the intricate runes of network setup or the Goldberg emulator’s compatibility. Let us forge a plan to restore your saga:
Your passion for Valheim shines like a beacon in the Cuban fog, and your struggle is not unseen. The developers have worked to ease LAN play, as seen in patch notes fixing instant disconnections and improving direct IP connections. This suggests no intentional barrier but rather a technical troll to slay. Should these steps fail, consider a workaround: use a mobile hotspot briefly to initialize the server (as some have done for offline play), then return to LAN.
Forge on and may your halls stand strong! Share your progress, and let us know if the disconnection beast is vanquished or if we must delve deeper into the code’s mysteries.

- Check the Server’s Heartbeat: Ensure your dedicated server is set for true LAN play. In the start_headless_server.bat file (or start_server.sh for Linux), add the -public 0 flag to restrict it to local connections. This aligns with Valheim’s patch 0.220.4, which restored the ability to host LAN-only servers. Also, verify the port range (2456-2458) is open in your router and Windows Firewall, as blocked ports can disrupt the server’s pulse.
- Goldberg’s Binding: The Goldberg emulator, your trusted tool for LAN play, may falter with recent updates. Ensure you’re using the latest Goldberg build (check for builds post-44305a00, as older ones struggled with Valheim’s dedicated server after patch 0.147.3). Place the steam_api64.dll in both the client (\Valheim\valheim_Data\Plugins\x86_64) and server (\Valheim Dedicated Server\valheim_server_Data\Plugins\x86_64) folders. If the game still disconnects, try launching the server via start_headless_server.bat rather than Steam, as this ensures proper emulator integration.
- Banish Corruption: Corrupted game files can mimic a protective curse. On Steam, right-click Valheim, select Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files to repair any broken runes. For the server, navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\Worlds, delete Dedicated.db, and rename Dedicated.db.backup to Dedicated.db to restore a stable world state.
- Network’s Strength: Your local network must be as sturdy as Yggdrasil’s roots. Restart your router and connect all devices via Ethernet if possible, as Wi-Fi can waver. Disable Windows Firewall temporarily (Settings > Update & Security > Firewall & Network Protection) or whitelist Valheim’s ports (2456-2458, UDP) to ensure no unseen barriers block your kin. If desync persists, check the F2 menu in-game; if “recv” is stuck at 0.0, reset network protocols by opening Command Prompt as admin and running:
- text
- Copy
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /renew - Test the Old Ways: If the disconnection persists, try hosting a non-dedicated server via the in-game “Start Server” option with “Community” unchecked. Invite others using Steam’s Shift+Tab overlay. This bypasses the dedicated server’s complexities and may stabilize your LAN session, though it’s less ideal for large groups.
- Seek the Community’s Wisdom: The Valheim community is a hearth of knowledge. Visit the official Discord or Steam forums to share your plight, mentioning your setup (versions 0.220.3/4, Goldberg, LAN). Others may have faced this beast and found unique solutions. If all else fails, report the issue via Valheim’s bug report form on their website, as the developers strive to improve multiplayer for all.
