Saw this post on /r/valheim by /u/Aurarus which explains how the ore mesh vs the underlying terrain update can mislead how much ore there really is.
At the very least, it helps to imagine this when mining around what was visible. Should save time and ore.

This is a very well explained and demonstrated post on this topic, thank you! I had already kinda figured this out because I've played Valheim so much but I know that many newer players have no idea how big those deposits really are :D
