I have been trying build an imported build that has a basement but the ground is still there. I was curious of what i am doing wrong?

I don't think BuildShare modifies the terrain unless the export included it.
You might try PlanBuild an alternative to BuildShare. I don't know if it can help you in this case but it certainly looks well developed, polished and maintained.
