Looking forward to the next. I have an efficient build which hasn't been seen before. Will work on decorating if there's another round of this in the future...
Great competition, grats to everyone! Get in on the next one if you missed out this time!
Wow congrats to everyone! I'm really happy with how I did and I'm proud if myself for entering, because it is intimidating with all the amazing builders out there. This was really fun and I look forward to the next competition.
Thank you Judges.
Thank you Judges.
Congrats to all the winners! I didn't want to be in judges shoes. I would have a hard time scoring most of them. I would like to see Judge commentary video on all of them along with 1st place interview.
I won 7th place! 20/20 on concept and originality, but 14/20 for presentation. I beardly managed to submit it in time so I didn't manage to make freefly camera.
For anyone interested I updated my build, where I took 2 weeks to take screenshots (mostly capturing lighting strikes and seagulls) and recorded a new freefly video that is synced with the music. I uploaded it on reddit, but since competition is over, can I edit my build here or upload the updated version separately?

It was definitely a tough one to judge. We don't plan on making a video, however, I am thinking of a writing an article that wraps up the contest as a whole, highlights the winners, reasons why points may have been lost as well as give some tips and tricks on how to improve submissions for the next contest. The interview will be a written-based interview as well.
Yes, you can edit and update your build here now that the contest is complete. Congratulations on your high placement! :)

Just curious... thought I saw a message at the top of the page for the contest rules saying you need to have a downloadable version to qualify to be a finalist?
Not saying I'll be a finalist with all the incredible builds I've seen but didn't know it was a requirement to be qualified? I dont see the note any more but figured maybe because the submission period is over.

Hey there!
No, you don't have to have a downloadable with your submission. It's completely optional! :)

So many amazing builds! I hope these contests continue, it's so fun looking through submissions and seeing everyone's creativity. Good luck to everyone!
I was thinking the same thing. I big thanks to all the builders and admins hosting the contest!
Good luck to everyone who entered and to anyone who might be submitting last minute!
I'm very pleased and impressed by all of the different entries already. We may be a small community but it's clear we've got serious talent here. Thanks for entering, giving others feedback on their creations and just being here reading these letters! :D
Next, the contest will enter a review phase for several days while we check to make sure entries followed the basic requirements. After that, it will enter the final judging phase where my wife and I will separately rate each entry with 3 judging criteria. I can tell it's going to be challenge! Our ratings for the criteria will be averaged together to compute a final leader board.

I am having trouble with this 20 photo max. I have a tone of details and my video is gonna have a very unprofessional touch. But I'll try my best. Wish you all luck.
You can also utilize the description. Images uploaded to image hosting sites, such as imgur.com, can be embedded in the description by using the insert media button, image, in our editor. Top row, just after the link buttons.
Also, now I want BBQ.

Hello again. Where it says "upload build file". that's if i wanted to share just the building? I'm wondering if the building is too large for that. is there anyway to share the world? the location is 5 second fly over from spawn. My restaurant has tons of seating and it would be cool to see it filled up by others.
Typically the upload build file is for sharing .vbuild files but it supports .zip as well. This means, you could zip your world directory and share it. I've seen members do that before.
Your world zipped will probably be larger than 15MB which is our maximum supported upload size at this time. If so, you'll need to upload it to a file hosting service such as mediafire.com or dropbox.com. You could then copy the download url and paste it into the "Alternative Download" field on the submission form.
World / vbuild files are not required for the contest but of course greatly appreciated by the community since we get to explore your world / build ourselves. As you mentioned, photos can only capture so much even though they say they are worth a 1000 words :D A world / build file must be worth a million.

Thank you so much. I might work on an album later tonight if I've got time. For now I posted a none edited video.
I am working on something! Hopefully it'll be done before the deadline. =)
Hi all, just found you via the Valheim reddit and saw your contest. Is it allowed to enter with builds already posted over on reddit (of course stuff from myself :D). Or should it be a new one?
Welcome! It would be nice if it was built for the contest. However, as long as it is yours & built in the Meadows, it qualifies!
Vaheim is still very new and we're just getting established. Maybe future contests, year+ out, will ask that builds be built for the contest. Right now, everything everyone has built is relatively new (few months).

Joined the community a bit late but excited to participate in this contest. 🙂
Thanks for running this comp! its so fun to put out our worlds and our builds for people to see . great idea hope more people enter!
I'm excited.
For the devcommands, can people spawn anything on the command list also? including floating rock? It would be wild to do so.
Just want to make sure I understand the rules correctly.
Thanks,
Arch G

Good question. I looked up the full list of what you can spawn and didn't realize the scope. It makes sense considering it's for literally debugging the game.
When I wrote the rules, my intention was simply to allow creative mode / unlimited materials. I think most like to see builds that are somewhat possible in the game. That said, while you can spawn 10,000 item frames in debugmode, you're not realistically going to do that in the game, so where would we draw the line? The line could be, items available in the build menu but I also don't care about a few raspberry bushes to accent a home.
I'm not going to be overly strict for this contest considering it's our first, we're all figuring out what is possible / accepted and how far we can push building in general. The contest is an experiment in itself that is meant to motivate everyone to build something that pushes their own abilities.
The rules state you can use devcommands. I don't know how many read that and might already be working on entries. If this ultimately results in entries that the community is against in future contest, then we'll learn from it and revise the rules going forward.

Agreed. I'll stick to something available and buildable in the game, and also reasonable too; for example, the tall rock pillar in the Plains can be spawn using devcommands, but in the Meadows context, that doesn't make any sense.
I like the idea of seeing how far we can push building to a new level.
Can't wait to see everyone's entry.
