Welcome, brave Valheimians! Today I'm going to show you how to get into the mistlands to acquire and build Black Marble without having good gear or a fancy pickaxe. Yes, you heard that right. You don't need a fancy pickaxe or a suit of armor to build the strongest buildings in the game. All you need is to be in the iron age and have a stonecutter. Now, let's talk about the nitty-gritty.
To get into the mistlands, you'll need to prepare some materials. You'll need to make four portals, a workbench, a stonecutter, and two karves. It may sound like a lot, but trust me, it's worth it. First, build a portal at your main base. Load up the karve with materials for another portal and set sail to find a good spot for a forward base camp.
You want to find a spot in the black forest that's close to the mistlands. Once you've found it, set up your forward base and connect the portal to your main base. Place your third portal here. Now comes the tricky part. You need to find a safe spot in the mistlands to place your fourth portal.
Get in your karve and search for a Dvergr tower. Once you find it, run inside and try not to aggro the Dvergr. Go into the basement or up into the attic, and go AFK for 10-30 minutes. This gives the monsters enough time to fight and weaken the dvergr. Keep waiting.
Eventually, there will be one weak monster left which you can dispatch with a simple weapon. Now that all the monsters are gone, you can take down the tower's ward without fear of reprisal from the dvergr. Once the ward is removed, you're free to place the workbench and the stonecutter, and your fourth portal.
Incedentally, the sky is death. If you can see the sky you really should stop looking at it before something nasty happens to you. Make sure you can't see the sky if you want to be safe... Underground structures are great for this. Keep out of enemy line of sight at all times and you will be fine; even when enemies show up.
And that's it! You can now harvest the black marble from the tower using your hammer and stonecutter. The possibilities are endless. You can build black marble castles, black marble statues, black marble... well, you get the idea. Now you just need to find more towers to raid and pillage... Just like a proper viking!
