Today, we will look at how Expand World Prefabs (EWP) can be used to create fully functional, vanilla-friendly vending machines in Valheim. This system is demonstrated on Path of Magic, where Valheimers use a feature called the Trade Shelf to set up item trades with one another no client mods required.

With the Trade Shelf, a player can create a structure that allows others to exchange items for goods, even while the shelf owner is offline. The shelf tracks ownership, so only the original creator can collect the output. This ensures that trades are secure, and profits stay protected.
It gives Valheimers the ability to run shops, create markets, and facilitate player-driven economies without needing anyone to be online to manage it. Trade Shelves are simple to use, customizable, and built entirely using existing Valheim mechanics through EWP scripting.

If you want to try it out yourself, you can join Path of Magic, a public Valheim server showcasing this system in use. All scripts and features shown are shared openly in Jere’s Valheim World Editing Discord, where any Valheimer is free to use or adapt them in their own projects.
This is how you build persistent, player-driven systems in Valheim that work on their own and make multiplayer worlds feel more alive, even when no one else is around.
