Hello there Vikings and Shield Maidens
this is my entry for Valhalla's Hearth build competition.
built with a friend. ( Lelldon )
This is what we see as the center of a Viking village
here's some lore to go with our build:
The Hall of the Gods!
This Great Hall was built by four powerful clans: the mighty troll-slaying warriors of Blåhud, the agile archers of Äldre, the mysterious magic-weaving Trollkarl and the stealthy but honorable Tjuv. Every year on the first day of summer the Jarls and their most loyal subjects come together at this neutral ground for a week to strengthen their bond. The festivities start with a feast that would even make the Einherjar in Valhalla jealous. The tables bend under the sheer masses of food from all parts of Midgard.
After a long night of feasting and an even longer nap the Jarls meet at a replica of Mimir's Well. There they follow Odin's search for wisdom by sacrificing an eye, in their case the eye of a greydwarf. Following the path behind the well, they will reach the wall of rune knowledge. The Jarls pick up a stone and carve in the word that they are looking for the most in the upcoming year.
They bring those runestones to the Seeress Edda who will use those to tell their fortune. With the knowledge of the future the politics can finally begin. Therefore the Jarls meet at the central thrones for discussions while the subjects may feast, play or just enjoy the scenery.
After long days of negotiations the vikings use their last day to praise the gods. The hall contains twelve altars to the most important gods. Whether they need protection by Heimdall, successful raids by Tyr, bountiful harvests by Freya or plenty of prey by Skadi, the gods will deliver for the right offering.
With the blessing of the gods, a full stomach and a year of peace ahead of them the vikings sail back home, leaving the Hall of the Gods empty except for some warriors to guard it for a year.
