Ruins of the Realm
Scattered across the Realm of Rhovanion & the world are dotted remanats of a lost age. Some of the ruins have been reclaimed by fellow vikings, reshaped, rebuilt and given a new purpose. Others still remain in the shadows of their former glory, their scattered bones of rubble laying about of the fields, and meadows. Each offers a unique story, and may have hidden secrets.
Muireadhach
-The remnants of the Stronghold of Muireadhach lay atop a high peak in the north. The stronghold was once the home of the brave vigilantes that guarded the Altar in fear of the Moder's summoning. The Kingdom of Mystgaard built this mountaintop stronghold early on and it held a majority of its forces. Muireadhach would fall and be claimed by the Moder, who placed an Altar allowing for her to return to the spot of her greatest victory. Eventually it was outright abandoned by those guarding it and was forgotten to time.
Sgurr Alasdair
-The ruins of Sgurr Alasdair are a sight to behold. Once a great city of the north, it now has fallen in ruin and is left abandoned. The second largest city in the Northern Reaches, the Kingdom of Mystgaard considered it the capital of their kingdom. It hugged the coast on the southern point, and offered great protection for those that called it home. During the Forsaken invasion, Sgurr Alasdair held on for sometime before it fell to the fulings. Those that survived fled to with Commander Bly. The Plains have slowly started to retake the area with fulings walking the streets of the once grand city. The ruins of the city now an echo of the northern kingdoms.
Sligachan
-Sligachan was once the largest city in the north and housed the safest harbor in the Kingdom of Andvasar. Bordering the northern lands, Sligachan grew its power and influence ventured further than most, collecting riches. The city itself was massive compared to the Realm, and housed countless estates, and temples to the Gods above. Sligachan was attacked during the Forsaken Invasion, with fuling hordes storming the city forcing the survivors to take refuge in the local fort outside the city. The ruins of this grand city now remain abandoned and desolate.
Donnam:
The lone village. Those that set this village up had a peaceful life and prospered for a time. They were kept secret from the outside world due to its unique spot where the forest surrounding it shielded the village from view.. Donnam had a strong group of followers devoted to the teachings of Tyr and here once housed a Temple in his honor. Donnam held out for some time during the Forsaken Invasion but it was eventually discovered and destroyed.
Tur Arngrim
The hill fort of Tur Arngrim. The fort was stationed on the high hills of the isle, and was built to watch over the seas below. Part of the Kingdom of Olfar, it was then known as the fortress that would watch over the lands that Olfar would call home. Tur Arngrim stood for quite some time during the Forsaken attacks, but those that were garrisoned there were killed by Fader & Moder who flew from above and burned the fort to ruin. The mountainside is now riddled with the ruins.
Stovomor
-Mountaintop ruin located in the mountain regions of Stranderma. Stovomor was a grand beacon/outlook for the Kingdom of Olfar, even though it was outside their controlled lands. It was abandoned during the Forsaken Invasion, with many of those that were stationed there leaving for the small village of Arnstead in the valley below.
Søndergaard
-It was once a grand watchtower that looked over the western lands. Situated at the top a singular peak surrounded by planes, it was an extremely defensible position. The watchtower offered much to those that were stationed here, and acted as a beacon to warn any lands to the east of outside threats. All that remains of this once massive tower are some stone ruins.
Haugrburg
-Hillside ruin on the border between Ostlighold and Surdurhold. Haugrburg was once the site of a Chapel that honored the God Odin, the All-Father. The city was heavily involved in the Haurgburg Incident of the 1st Age and was reduced in size. During the Collapse of the Realm, it was laid waste by Moder, who is still rumored to have a heavy presence in that area.
Scyth Al’Mor
-Ancient capital city of the Kingdom of Sorvagur. Scyth Al’Mor was a large thriving city that was known to have stone streets, canals and high towers overlooking the land they called home. The city was thriving for hundreds of years until the Forsaken invaded in the late First Age. The Queen led the attack personally and used the dreaded Mists to corrupt the very land it’s foundations were set upon. The city was torn apart, ripped into small fragments, and the ocean swallowed the rest.
Fogarrach
The capital of the Kingdom of Olfar. Fogarrach was a decent sized town that was settled in the peaceful hills of the meadows. Fogarrach once housed a decent amount of homes and halls that were full of life and security. The Forsaken Invasion saw the town attacked from all sides, the survivors fled west with such haste that most did not make it past the invading draugr. The remnants of the town now dot the hills of the Meadows.
Celtigar
-Fortress of the Hold. Fortress of the First Age. It was once the proud spire of the Beregond, and guarded watch to the south. Beregond Spire was said to be at least 200 feet tall in its prime. The ruins of this fortress still lay barren upon the hillside. Even though these lands held out for a time, the fortress was on the front lines for several decades. The Forsaken laid waste to the fortress and all their remains is a stone foundation and the scattered houses below.
Valandrus
-Large seaside town with a small cluster of defensive isles that guard the harbor. Valandrus was once a thriving city/port that was home to at least several dozen Vikings. Their continuous effort to avenge the fall of the realm led to many of their number the fall within the Mists. The small cluster of islands within the bay offers the harbor a defensible position, in a near perfect haven for those that seek it if they are willing to handle the threats of the Mist nearby.
Ingjard Holdout
-Ingjard was once the jarl in charge of Valandrus who sought out on an expedition to find the queen. Eventually they were cut off by the hordes of seekers, and were forced to set up shop within a ruined Outpost. For 3 years they were stuck at top of this ruined tower and eventually reconstructed it into the fortification it is today. This holdout became home to the fight before she had with her, and for those three years they were on constant vigilance but as passage at the time moved on, their numbers dwindled enough that it too was abandoned.
Stendarr
-A hillside fortress and city that hugs the steeps of a mountainside but also looks over the peaceful valley of meadows below it. Stendarr was once a home to a proud group of vigilants that studied the ways of Skaði. It is here that they built a small fortress atop the hill, and set out to teach the ways of the goddess. Little is known of what was included within the walled city but all that remains is a ruin.
Thrudhiem
-The largest known city in all of Fjardfell. situated atop the mountain, it was a sprawling city that hugged several peaks, and was constructed within the shelters of the valleys and canyons in the mountains. Thrudhiem once housed the Cathedral of Skadi, and was the center point for worship of the Norse goddess. Thrudhiem was hit hard during The Invasion by Moder, and the majority of those that called this place home fled south.
Jormunn Hall
-Was once a mountaintop crypt for the honored fallen of the Realm. It was destroyed by Forsaken forces and now is guarded by a legion of stone golems. Situation atop the highest peak in Vesturhold, it is now a cursed area.
Most of the the ruined structures were placed utilizing devcommands and location placements. Some blueprints were placed within the ruins to add more character.

Have something to say?
I've seen people depict damaged parts on buildings, one ruin here and there to give more variety to the ones we found or small details. But to build not one but several old derelict whole settlements with their own looks, vibes and history behind... Hats off. 🙌
