Hi! I'm Illumi, and my channel is Fia's Workshop.



About me:
  I chose the name Fia's Workshop because I wanted it to be my Valheim character's view of things and not my own, although I am the one behind the character. My channel is rough but it is still growing, and I enjoy creating videos to show my builds and other Valheim related content.



When did I start playing Valheim?

  I started building vanilla with devcommands/nocost around mid August (also when I began playing this game as well) and at that time, had just about 300 hours. Then my very fear came to life on August 23rd 2022, I lost my world save to a steam cloud file corruption. A few mentions: EVL's Games (Vonza!), GhostBuilds, and Versaugh, were the builders on YouTube who I learned the most from and gave me the discipline and determination to create to the best of my human ability. I cant thank them enough for how inspirational those 3 still are and were at that time.



What about now?
  Since then, I've embraced the mod Infinity Hammer, an amazing tool in any builder's arsenal. The idea of being able to hammer place any in-console-object has always been a pleasant one to me, since it's already a function in the game, but the code is not there to use it without the mod. Gizmo is a nice mod, and allows for more divisions in rotations (the vanilla standard being 8 divisions), but I note when it is used, and tend to use it for more artsy or aesthetic pieces. Infinity Hammer alone saves me hours of time, and since I'm very disciplined in building as is, it is no issue. Infinity hammer removes the need for mods like PlantAnything, PlanBuild, and SkToolbox. I mainly use IH to place in game things like spawnables that can only be spawned in cardinal North/South direction. Opening the console and typing 'hammer (desired console object ID)' attaches the object to your hammer and lets you free place that object.



Thoughts on MODS as a whole:

  I think the notion that modding makes a build worth less than a non modded one is unfair, and I do agree under the circumstance of modded build pieces, since they are not found within the files of the game itself. All of my work is Vanilla Visible without mods at the very LEAST. The only mod you might ever need in that event is ItemStand_AllItems by Jere Kuusela since there are a few new builds I am working on which do use it. All of his mods manipulate in game files and use no external functions or assets.
