Today, we’re looking at Riverheim, a client-side world generation mod for Valheim developed by Gurebu. It is an important project that shows new ways of thinking about how Valheim’s worlds are shaped and it’s something every Valheimer might enjoy.
Riverheim changes the way rivers are generated by starting them near the center of landmasses and flowing outward. This results in far more rivers that stretch across biomes in longer, more interconnected ways, making exploration more engaging. These changes fundamentally alter how a world feels when moving through it, offering new routes and natural landmarks.
When looking at different Riverheim seeds on the map, the differences become clear. You’ll notice much larger landmasses and continents separated by vast rivers that encourage exploration from multiple directions. The world feels less like isolated islands and more like a dynamic, sprawling land you can truly get lost in.

Although the rivers may not look dramatically different at first glance, they significantly impact navigation. Many act as inland highways that naturally guide players through the terrain. Boating and traveling between biomes take on a new rhythm when rivers are plentiful and spread meaningfully across the landscape.

If you’re curious, you can try Riverheim by downloading it from Thunderstore. While it isn’t part of Path of Magic or other vanilla-compatible projects, it offers a fresh way to rediscover Valheim’s scale, travel, and world design.
