tell me any tips you have for builds and help me get better at it
my main problem is with how to make the roof, i have no idea how to make a good shape for roof
* i used log beam and wood beam in first image for comparison, tell me which fits better
so far ive been to mistland but have not defeated the boss (wont say the name just in case)

Have something to say?
About your request, there's no general rule for a "good shape" for a roof, It's a matter the roof matches the rest of the building. What you can is follow certain tips that can help you improve your skills. I can give you some of mine:
- First of all, just try to compare with reality and follow what works there. This will make your design more believable and its easier than just create a design from nowhere when you don't have the practice
- Try to be sure the whole proportions make sense; for example a very tall roof on a low main-body building don't use to look good
- If the floor shape of the build is already complex, don't add also a complex roof design, don't over-complicate yourself, it could be frustrating
- On the opposite, a more complex roof is easier to make when floor shapes are simpler and helps to elevate the whole building looks
- Use roof overhangs; don't end the roofs at the edge of walls, made them extend beyond
- The extension of the overhangs has to be proportional to the size of the building. 1m overhang is overboard for a small shack, it's OK for most mid-sized buildings but can be ridiculously small for bigger constructions
- Don't place roof pieces just one beside another; overlap them when necessary to close gaps smaller than the usual 2x2 meters
- Do NOT use the door nor free hand those roof overlaps, specially when using tar blacked roof; pieces only looks nice when they align it right. For that, use pieces that allows you to shift pieces in perfect fractions of the 2m sizes of any roof piece.
- So, you want to shift pieces in distances that are a combination of 1m, 0,5m or 0,25m fractions.
- Core wood beams, wood crosses and grausten big pillar pieces allow you to do that, you have tutorials for this in my YT channel
- Break the look of big roofs with decorations that make them look less monotone: chimneys (even if fake) or windows are the most usual options
- Everybody wants to make "round" buildings (like towers) because they look fantastic... until they reach the roof and their nightmare starts.
- So, let the rounder buildings for when you have experiences and, even so, build a mock-up test for the roof in the ground to be sure the general design in your head will work. You don't want to find your idea doesn't fit once you have build the rest of the tower
- And the most important rule: Once you have mastered the basics, you can break any of those rules whenever you fell necessary. When you now the basics, you'll understand when and how you can ignore them.
