Second Age History

The Second Age began once the last settlement was claimed by the Curse of Bonemass. The embers of the First Kingdom officially were snuffed and those remaining were given a choice to move on or in this case seek vengeance. Those that survived in Bragi Keep sought to take vengeance on the Forsaken for their prior attack, and sailed east to hunt down Yagluth and the Queen. Calling themselves the Vidarr Order, they established Pelinalhold and led a doomed fight against the Forsaken. The Hold lasted roughly 50 years before disappearing from the world. Another group survived way to the southeast, and this group were survivors of the Kingdom of Olfar who were lucky enough to avoid being found during the Forsaken Invasion. For centuries they held out and scavenged from the ravaged lands before they too faded into history. Another group of survivors from Nordurhold managed to group together and sail northeast with the bold idea that being on the edges of the Outer Regions would be safer than the Inner Holds. This group established the region of Etive Mor and attempted to create a new life. They failed as well and were wiped out.

The last known norse/viking that remained in the world was last recorded by the Dvergr 300 years after the Downfall occurred near the ruins of Gerdr Hill. This time period is known as the Dimmir Dagar and it consisted of a long shadow of time that passed where all the known places, thriving cities fell into disrepair.

Centuries later, in the last digit attempt, the Dvergr attempted to bring forth reinforcements from their homeland Nidavellir to take back their old lands. Instead, they created a pathway to another realm that brought forth other Vikings. At first a lone viking was dragged from their world to this one, bringing with them the resources and expertise from his previous life. For a time he wandered the abandoned lands of the world and eventually rediscovered the Ruins of Thorongil. Settling down, he began to rebuild the city thus beginning the Realm of Rhovanion.

From here a new era has begun, and those that adventure forth have discovered a world full of ruin, mystery and potential. Those that have made it here have set up new roots, new homes, and have begun to establish the once proud Realm of Rhovanion. From shield maidens to mercenaries, adventures, and builders. All have answered the call. Now the Realm has been rebuilt, connecting the world once more, and bringing the fight to those dreaded Forsaken.

Those few that have partaken in it have experienced much. From the humble beginnings of discovery, the rapid age of the claiming period to the internal conflict of Nyrðrarök Schism. The Realm healed itself after months only for the Forsaken to return during the Wrath of the Forsaken. Following the attack those that remained gathered forth and started the New Gullalder, the golden age. The Realm has seen massive growth and prosperity to the point that others claimed guest rights during the The Alignment of Worlds or Jöfnun Heima and experienced the Realm for themselves.

The tales of this age are presently being written.
