Rhovanion is split into 5 holds: Midthold, Vesturhold, Nordurhold, Ostlighold and Surdurhold. Each hold has a number of different settlements, and ruins., each with their own spin. I set the holds up to be within a connection of Midthold, each with a vacancy of a Jarl. Any Viking can join, lay claim to a hold that is vacant and start to rebuild.
Midthold:
Thorongil
-Thorongil, central city in Midthold. Rebuilt from its fallen state, remnants of the old watchtower and dock still remain. The hilltop hall and fortress stands firm above the village below. The Dvergr once held a port at the mouth of the river, and their structures lay now in disrepair. The village is home to a Inn, Storehouse, Tavern, and some available homes for claim. The main fortress is home to the Jarl of Midthold and Lord of Thorongil. Thorongil has been claimed .
Aegir Point
-Port city on the north western part of Midthold. Once a proud town that once was the jewel of Sven Bay. The bridge leading to the small isle is in ruin, with the two watchtowers laying in decay. The Mead Hall and scattered houses is all that remains. The once proud docks have now faded away to the waters of the bay. The Lord of Aegir Point once ruled Sven Bay and the surrounding area; it has now fallen silent.
Thorrhall
-The hall of once a proud lord. Hugging the western parts of Midthold, it was built by a mighty warrior named Thorr. The hall itself was the home, and sanctuary to Thorr who utilized the hillside for the setting sun to bless his dwindling days. The hall was stricken with a fire prior to Thorr’s passing, and it has since been a shadow of its former glory.
Gerdr Hill
-The hill village of Gerdr was known as the Crossroads of Midthold. A hub for travelers, it was utilized for farmland and storage for the other claims. The people of Gerdr also built several fortresses to watch over the Forsaken Eithykr and wait for their return. The village houses numerous homes, and a destroyed hall overlooking the valley below. Gerdr didn’t have a “true” Lord of the village but rather answered to the Jarl at Thorongil.
Njordr Hill
-The settlement on the Njordr Isle, was once the place of worship for Ullr. Isolated by the Bay of Fjorddrum, they set their roots near an abandoned Dvergr Lighthouse, and branched out towards the hill. It is rumored they left Njordr and sailed west towards Fjardfall. Njordr Hill has been claimed.
Ostlighold
Anduin Farm
-Situated in the valley near Mt. Havertz, Anduin farm was set up by Mjoll. The farm housed numerous families and helped supply crops/food to most of the surrounding holds. It was rumored Brenna once lived here for a time before disappearing into the Blackforest.
Mjollhall
-Mjoll, warrior of Ostlighold. She helped carve out of the kingdom in these lands and even conquered the endless hordes of fulings in the scattered Plains. During her last years she set up shop in Ostlighold and helped build both the Anduin farm and her own personal home of Mjollhall. The hall was built with a watchtower on its edge, to watch over the meadows below from the threats from the Woods of Ruin. In time, the hall fell into disrepair and now remains atop the hill. It was considered as the seat of the Jarl for some time prior to Mjoll’s passing.
Bragi Keep
-The fortress of Ostlighold, Bragi Keep was the gateway to the hold. Stationed on the shoreline and near the crossing, Bragi housed a small guard and village. Once a flourishing hub, the village utilized the logging camp of Skógar to the east to build up its defences. However, the Keep fell to raids from the forest, and eventually was abandoned. House of the seat of Ostlighold, the Jarl would rule from the now ruined tower.
Skógar
-The logging encampment on the southern shores of Ostlighold. Housing several structures and storage, it helped supply most of the lumber for the surrounding Holds. The road to Bragi Keep was once flowing but has since been claimed by the forest. The only road now connects to Mjollhall to the north.
Surdurhold
Vanlandi
-The village of Vanlandi lies in the northern parts of Sudurhold. The only claim of the hold, the village was set up by a group led by Sventi the Wise. Finding the shrine of Eithykr, they decided to stay and worship the Forsaken. This decision has led to the village being an outcast to Realm, and was raided numerous times by the other Holds. Bragi Keep decided to fortify the crossing to ensure the people of Vanlandi would remain south. The village was left abandoned at some unknown time.
NimrielHall
-The only other settlement in Sudurhold. Nimriel was once an adventurer that sailed past the region of Storfjell to the south, eventually reaching the mists of the Mistlands. His home once housed all his treasures and relics of those times, but has since been raided by the locals from Vanlandi.
Nordurhold
Mimir Farm
-The farms of Nordurhold. Mimir was a peaceful village that held small farms to the meadows, and a port to the small bay. A small tower was built by the Lord of Mimir to watch over the area. Little is left of the area, and it has been utilized as a small encampment for western travels by sea. Mimir was beginning to grow in size after the fall of Jarnvidr, as Jarl of Midthold expanded their connection .
Jarnvidr
-The largest town in Nordurhold. It was proud of its strength in the hold and began expanding into the Atmour Forest. Once housing a great clan, it was cursed by Bonemass who transformed them into Draugr. The town fell into ruin and now stands isolated and barren. The town once held a herd of lox but they now roam free, untamed through the city streets. Jarnvidr once held a grand hall atop the hill but it too, fell to the collapse. Jarnvidr has been claimed
Eorlhall
-Hall of the mighty warrior Eorl. Eorl helped conquer the northern lands in Norausta and established Jarl Isle and Heimfall. In his old age he returned to Nordurhold and set up a home for retirement on the foot of Amon Hill. The hall still remains vacant after Eorl sailed east, never to return.
Vesturhold
Iverstead
-The central city of Vesturhold. Was once the largest city in the Realm, has since fallen into disrepair. Once the seat to the Jarl of Vesturhold, Iverstead is nearly unrecognizable. Hugging the edge of Ragnar Wood, it has fallen victim to numerous raids from the woodland creatures. Remnants of the farms and houses scatter the hillside, with a herd of stray Lox taking up refuge.
Idunnhall
-Idunn the Navigator once hailed from Aegir Point. Upon retirement, he built a hall opposite Aegir Point in Vesturhold. Claiming a small patch of land near the remnants of a Dvergr structure, Idunn built a small community for years until his passing. The hall and the houses around it now lay in ruin.
Asyajur Keep
-Some members of the Jarnvidr clan sailed across Sven Bay to take claim over the Dvergr ruins atop the hill. They started a sister village and started to grow, but they too fell to Bonemass’s curse. The Draugr now roam the hillside, with the Dvergr Tower looming over, casting its shadow.
Hymir Tower
-A isolated watchtower and village with some farms and houses. Once an outpost to Iverstead, it slowly was abandoned overtime and eventually fell into ruin. Hymir has been claimed .
Currently, Thorongil is the only claim of the Realm held by myself. Everything else is available and up for grabs.
