How much style and functionality can I fit into a 3x4 floor space?
There will be one house for each stage of the game

The rules:
No digging
Ground floor must be 3x4 standard floor tiles (6x8 meters)
Fireplaces are allowed to extend into an external alcove
1 extra floor is allowed, which may jetty out to a 4x5 floor space
Materials are restricted to the game stage (i.e. no metals or fine wood before Eikthyr, no iron before Elder, etc.)

I put no restrictions on the garden plants
Progress100% complete

Cool idea, I have some questions before I get into taking part:
- is flattening the ground allowed?
- I see stone paths, but one would need iron for the stonecutter, is this allowed?
- Is finewood allowed (pre Eikthyr), since I can get it without the axe/ without a troll in the meadows?
- are item stands allowed (pre Eikthyr)?

Yes, flattening is allowed. The no digging rule really just means no basements or buried elements. I don't use fine wood for before Eikthyr, because getting it requires a bit of cheesing. That also means no item stands. I was even a bit torn on core wood, since it comes from the next biome. I decided that core wood was ok, since it can be cut with the stone axe, and can be gathered on the edges of the black forest, without really going in.

The rules only apply to the houses themselves. For the village/gardens, anything goes. I even use a planting mod to get bushes and trees that don't belong in the meadows.

Ok, thanks for clearing these things up. As soon as I got the time (would like to finish a different build before) I will take part in the challenge :)

Nice one, I'm gonna try these limitations as set myself, but it already inspired me to go for fully upgraded workstations and kitchen (except oven) on 3x4. Managed to get a 14 comfort. Modded placement of course. And crammed with normal and personal chests (so no style there) ^^ I like tiny builds, unfortunately I like hoarding too, so that clashes a lot :D

Are you gonna upgrade them on the go or just start over for each era? Did miss that part the first time I read.

I'm making a little village with these homes. I might have to make a bit more room for them as the game continues to expand, but I have 5 five spots set up for the present set
