Rhovanion (Rho-va-ne-on)
- The heartland of the world. Following the arrival of the Dvergr, the early vikings set up small scattered settlements across the center isles. Eventually these scattered settlements formed a unified kingdom. Within this center they called it, Rhovanion. Here housed a mighty kingdom that stretched as far as the seas would take them. The Realm of Rhovanion was the heart of the Kingdom as it prospered and grew. Eventually the High Jarl of the Realm sanctioned her children to spread out across the known regions. They all became vassals to the Realm and each prospered in their own way. As time carried forward, the kingdom would begin to crumble as the arrival of the Forsaken struck the Outer Regions. One by one they fell. In time all that remained was the Realm of Rhovanion itself, and even it was a shadow of its former self.
The Realm itself is broken into several smaller Holds: Midthold, Ostlighold, Nordurhold, Surdurhold, Vesturhold, Hrfanhold, and Maedhreoshold.
Eteläinen (Et-el-ain-en)
-The lands south. The Forsaken Lords have a firm grip on the area, and the Dvergr were known to have a heavy presence in this area as well. The dotted isles provide much to explore but there are many that remain unnamed. The southernmost region contains the gateway to the hellscape of the Ashlands, and it has led many to short voyages to the depths of Muspelheim. These lands were deemed far too dangerous to venture alone, and the Jarls of old declared any journey south of Surdurhold is one not sanctioned by the Realm. The region itself is quite scarce, however in recent months Jarl’s have ventured down and have reclaimed the scattered islands and have rebuilt several kingdoms. Fort Hothbrodd has been constructed as a vigilant guardian that watches the burden sea, preparing for Fader's return.
Stränderna (Stron-der-na)
--The Eastern Shores. Stränderna is the lands to the east, and was a frequent area to raid. Mjoll led numerous conquests of the area to combat the presence of Yagluth. There is a known myth or legend, depending on who tells the tale originating from these lands. The Dvergr attempting to summon a force from Nidavellir brought a Viking Clan from another realm to this one unknowingly. The Vikings, along with all these possessions, were teleported to Rhovanion within a moment. With them they brought knowledge, their skill, and their drive to end the Forsaken threat from their old world. One of them eventually journeyed west and discovered the ruins of the once proud Realm of Rhovanion. Storfjell was once such place, the collection of lands southeast of the Realm, another region that has been corrupted by Bonemass; it remains isolated by the scattered swamps. Some spots of the area were corrupted by the encroaching mist, and are considered “lost” by those unprepared to enter. This region has been well explored by Adventures from the realm but very few have actually laid any foundations here. The vikings from Jarl Isle has recently started to explore this region to claim several islands and hopes to gather resources, but still there is much to know.
Tirfjard (Teer-f-yard)
-The westlands from the realm. Directly west by southwest from the Fjardfall Isles. These lands are considered to be the most treacherous to explore. Riddled with rolling plains, high peaks and the perpetual mist that lingers in-between. Lands here are the least known to the Realm, and only rumors of what is here is carried by weary travels or the remnants of the Dvergr. Any record of explorations to this region have been lost to time itself. Expeditions from Tyr’s Landing have attempted to seek out Yagluth here but none have returned to share their tale. It wasn't until recently where this region has been the target of several expeditions to establish a claim. Several new Vikings have decided to seek out the challenge of this treacherous area and have carved out a new home and what is considered a hostile place. Much of the area is corrupted and Mists which has limited exploration but has not halted those that live here.
Northern Reaches
-The lands north of the Realm are collectively called the Northern Reaches. There have been several expeditions to these lands by those that dwelled in Aegir Point and the famous viking warrior Eorl. Attempts to establish a hold have been made but nothing was fully secured as the threats from the Plains Fulings have been well known. Scattered ruins still dot the land as the rumored Forsaken overlords have been spotted to have a firm hold here. Hopes for future expeditions are still in the works. Noraustia is the only area that was explored by Eorl, and remnants of his achievements are still to be found. It is said he and his clan attempted to construct a grand mountain fortress called Hiemfall but never completed it. Prior to Eorl’s expansion, there were several kingdoms that once thrived in this region. Three children of the Jarl of Vesterhold branched out and established three Kingdoms of the North. Scattered amongst the countless aisles, they constructed massive cities and villages. During the first stage the three kingdoms fell rather quickly to the invasion of Forsaken.
