This was 1 of my major building projects after the Mistlands update 2+ years ago.
The angled black marble build pieces opened up so many design possibilities.
Also, I was inspired by some of the Ring fortresses made by fellow Valheimians that I saw online.
I had first experimented with the black marble pieces in my earlier Bridge fortress design (see Spawn area video).
Now I wanted to go further with a larger & different design.
So, the basic layout is pretty standard.
I shan't elaborate too much, and let the fly-over videos tell the story.
It turned out pretty well for me, and I had much fun doing a new circular design on such a larger scale.
My one & only regret was the width of the canal, which was sized back then for the largest ship. The Longship.
When the Ashlands update hit, and along came an even larger ship. The Drakkar.
I was immediately tempted to *extensively renovate* my build to accommodate the dimensions of the Drakkar, to pass through.
But it quickly became apparent that nothing short of a min. 80% reconstruction effort was needed.
So my expedient solution was to build 2 outer dock platforms on the seaward side (in a semi-circular concentric outwards fashion).
To accommodate additional berthing for both Drakkars & smaller ships.
I'm not sure if I'm fully satisfied with the solution, even today.
But hey, I have only limited time per day & plenty PLENTY more design plans on my drawing board to do.
PS: The small chapel was originally a Black Forest tower base (I converted it from an existing abandoned one in-game). It used to be one of my major bases, and I had built extensive walls & facilities around it. But after building this Ring fortress, it didn't make sense for it to remain & tower menacingly over my Ring fortress. So I made the rather reluctant choice to demolish it & replace it with a small round church with a small garden. Built over the original footprints of the former tower base.
